Cracking The Code Of Identity: How To Discover Who you Truly Are - Moment 1
What if your current life is just you being a copycat???
There are at least 5 different personalities you can embrace throughout your lifetime.
The first is who God has created you to be
The second is who your parents have conditioned you to be
The third is how culture and peer pressure has influenced you to be
The fourth is who you want to be - this stems from the selfish nature that is inherent in man from birth and
The fifth is the personality the devil has influenced you to be.
In all of this, the most important personality we should embrace is who God has called us to be because "...in him, we live and move and exist."
Without God, we are nothing and have no form.
In this generation, so many young people are confused about who they are and why they exist. The question of identity is a very disturbing factor for every human being on Earth.
A lack of identity can lead to the following consequences:
1. Living life without a goal, vision, or ambition
2. It is one of the major causes of depression
3. It leads to recklessness, wrong decision-making, confusion and so much more.
But, how do we discover our identity in God? How do we get to uncover and embrace the authenticity that God has bestowed upon us for the benefit of purpose fulfillment?
When Jeremiah was confused and disturbed about his identity God said to him, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations", this statement will serve as a template to discovering your identity.
Let's start with the first obvious and important fact...
God Knows You:
No matter how you like to think that you know yourself, the truth is you don't. You know nothing about you. You can only make guesses based on your earthly perception which may not be wrong because God has given every human being the gift of free will so we have the right to choose between the things we like and don't like.
When it comes to purpose, it is important to realize that God knows you.
God knows what you would like and what you wouldn't like 10 years from now, God knows what your future self would want to be regarded as, he knows the dreams and aspirations you hold dear to your heart and he knows how to bring them all to become your reality.
The first step to crack the code of identity is to quit trying to discover yourself and simply ask God.
The funny thing is; we expect God to give us a checklist of all our preferences and attitudes but that's not how it works.
God reveals to you who you truly are by placing you in the perfect environment where your weaknesses and strengths will be exposed but, he doesn't just expose weaknesses, he takes you through training that will help you overcome them.
You've Been Set Apart:
Another code to unlocking your identity is to understand that God has separated you from your family, your culture, your race, your country, etc for a specific purpose that he has marked over your life.
Being set apart simply means being special. Being unique. Having a solution to a problem the world around you is facing.
Being set apart also means "...not conforming to the world", standing out from the normal that everyone has come to accept, and being abnormal in a purposeful way.
To discover your identity, you have to let God reveal to you the path on which he has placed you to fulfill your purpose.
This path might be a career, a certain job, a certain lifestyle, etc. This path is not something you chose for yourself but a route God chooses for you to reach the destination of your purpose.
God knows you and because he knows you, he has set you apart...
A Prophet To The Nations:
You were not set apart to stay isolated in the world, you were set apart and given a unique message to share "with" the world!
Being a prophet does not necessarily mean you will go around building churches and the like; it simply means being a messenger. A representation of God in any place you find yourself, in any career, job, or sector you thrive, you were created to teach the will of God in that sector.
As a prophet, we all have our ministries; the areas where God wants us to concentrate on "...so that we may bear fruit".
You shine brighter when you stand out uniquely when you do things differently, and when you bring unique solutions to the problems around you.
Even though you're a prophet to the nations, you won't get to all the nations at once. There is a saying that "you make big changes one step at a time ", you have to start with where you are and that reminds me of another quote that says; "Start where you are, do what you can, with what you have".
The fact that you started where you are, does not mean you should remain where you are for a long time. The proof that you're going to the nations is your ability to expand from the point at which you started.
Don't allow yourself to feel small or inadequate. Consistency and knowledge are what will build you up to become a prophet that is sort after in your career, your calling, your job, or your passion.
That sums it up! That is the simple formula for cracking the identity code.
In case you still didn't get it, here is everything I've been trying to say in a few sentences.
"Allow God to reveal yourself to you and once you find out who God has created you to be, walk in that unique path, and grow your gift, talent, passion, or career to become a prophet to the nations!"
In summary, your identity is hidden in God.
